Revered National Saint,

Just now I heard your talk on the BBC. I feel proud of you! only a national saint, a true Indian, a genuinely spiritual authority who would speak with such honesty, frankness and boldness about the respective positions of the Law of the Land and the Personal Law of the Muslim community. In a secular country like India all religions are equal and free to follow their ways in their respective spheres but the love of the Lord is supreme and all Indian citizens are obliged to follow it. But the beauty of your presentation was that you placed your position very clearly and candidly without being offensive to anybody. It is this 'divinity' of the Maulana to which I bow down my head in reverence. All glory to thee, O, the embodiment of the soul of India.
