The goal of religions has always been to give man a proper knowledge of His Creator, so that he may properly understand the universe and the purpose of human life in it. Religion informs man of his beginning and his ultimate end. It enables man to lead his life in this world according to the creation plan of God, so that he may be entitled to the divine rewards. About two-dozen Prophets have been mentioned in the Qur’an by name. In a hadith, the number of these Prophets and messengers has been put at 1,24,000.
