Foreword

According to Khuraym ibn Fatik, the Prophet rose after the completion of his morning prayer and said, ‘The giving of false evidence is like committing idolatry.’ He repeated this three times. Then he recited this passage of the Qur’an: ‘Shun the loathsome evil of idolatrous beliefs and practices; and shun every word that is untrue.
