Grievances arising from misunderstanding

1993 1-2 January-February 14 Grievances arising from misunderstanding (64) During the reign of Muawiyah, a man came before Suhayl ibn Saad and told him that the Amir (Governor) of Medina, Marvan ibn Hakam, was abusing Ali. “What does he say?” asked Suhayl. “He calls Ali ‘Abu Turab’ (father of the earth),” replied the man. Suhayl laughed and said: “The Prophet himself gave Ali that name; it was the Prophet’s favourite name.”
