This is how a material event can become a spiritual experience. Spirituality develops in a person the ability to draw higher lessons from ordinary happenings. He begins to see beyond appearances and discovers meaning in what others regard as commonplace. Spirituality is essentially an inner journey. It takes a person from material thinking to meaningful thinking. This journey cannot be seen by others, but the traveller experiences it within his own consciousness. A spiritually awakened person finds reminders of God everywhere. Every event becomes a lesson, every difficulty an opportunity for growth, and every comfort a reminder of gratitude. This is spiritual progress: to live in this world, yet continually discover the world beyond it.  (The Quran 94:5) Spirituality develops in a person the ability to draw higher lessons from ordinary happenings. He begins to see beyond appearances and discovers meaning in what others regard as commonplace. People live in fear of life, though it is death they ought to be mindful of.
