DISCOVERING GOD EVERYWHERE JOURNEY TOWARDS GOD-REALIZATION

The Quran says: “We shall show them Our signs in the universe and within themselves, until it becomes clear to them that this is the truth.” (41: 53) This verse gives us a complete programme for spiritual discovery. The signs of God are spread throughout the external universe and within human existence itself. Every morning brings a new sign. Every night presents another demonstration. The seed breaking through the soil, clouds carrying enormous quantities of water, the earth reviving after rain, the disciplined movement of celestial bodies—all silently proclaim that this universe is governed by an intelligence infinitely greater than our own. The universe is therefore more than a place in which man has been given temporary residence. It is a divine classroom. Everything around us is teaching a lesson, provided we are prepared to become students. The spiritually awakened person walks through the same world as everyone else, but he lives in a different intellectual world. Others see things; he sees signs. Others see creation; he discovers the Creator. This is reflection at its highest level: discovering God through His universe and turning every experience of life into a means of coming nearer to Him.  The universe is more than a place in which man has been given temporary residence. It is a divine classroom. Everything around us is teaching a lesson, provided we are prepared to become students.
