DR. JOHANI URGES INDIAN MUSLIMS TO EXERT DAWAH WORK Secretary-General of WAMY Dr. Manehi Al-Johani described the lapses in Dawah work as the main reason of violence, hatred and prejudice against Muslims in India. Addressing a gathering of Indian Muslims at WAMY's headquarters in Riyadh on April 12, 1994 Dr. Al-Johani said that he visited India several times and discovered that there were Muslims living with non-Muslims as their neighbors for decades, but, unfortunately, Muslims never conveyed the message of Islam to their non-Muslim brethren, nor could they impress them with their behavior. Tracing the history of Spain and India, the Secretary-General said that in both countries Muslims ruled over 800 years, yet they could not convert them into Islamic states. Brushipg aside Dawah work, they indulged themselves in name and fame. He strongly flayed the Moghal Emperor, Shahjahan, for building a grand mausoleum on his wife's grave, spending a lot of money extravagantly, which could be used in Dawah work. If the Muslims had done so, India would have been altogether a different country. He urged Indian Muslims to preach Islam through their conduct and behavior and exert Dawah work as it is the only solution to their problems. Monthly Islamic Future, Riyadh, No. 37, May 1994 p. 11.
