Simple living, high thinking
11- Tuesday, 18 December 2007 I am delighted to read Al Risala, November 2007, which is exclusively about Asmaa' Husna and Ism A‘zam. Many Thanks for considering the request of Kalim, and sharing your valuable thoughts on this important subject. The articles are well written and dispel many doubts in the minds of people. Also, they are very inspiring as you have laced the descriptions with real examples from Islamic history and your personal life. There is no doubt that your writings do convince a modern educated man and are in the style and idiom which he understands and appreciates. I pray for your long life and good health so that you may continue rendering this great service. Al Risala, November 2007, has been an eye opener for me, particularly. Now I very clearly understand what is a super du'aa' and what is invocation, as different from what we normally pray in which there is not much earnestness. The caption on the title page of Al Risala always fascinates me a great deal. However, the one on al Risala of November 07 is highly inspiring and is a statement of universal truth. Also, the way it gets linked up with the anecdote of Sultan ‘Abdur Rahman An-Nasir (d. 961 CE) is revealing. The story of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan (d. 1989) at the end of Al Risala (pp. 44-45) is very inspiring and educative. It will be worthwhile to have this issue of Al Risala translated into English for wider circulation and the same could also be posted on the Internet. Such a useful writing must reach to as many people as possible. I hope someone will take up this job. (Shakil Ahmad Khan, Sharjah, UAE)
